Matt was born and raised in Cordele, Georgia, where he attended Crisp County schools before graduating from Crisp Academy. Cordele has always been home to Matt, and he is grateful for the opportunity to return to his hometown to practice law and serve the community he grew up in.
Following high school, Matt enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving five years on active duty and attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he continued his career in public service as a police officer.
Matt graduated magna cum laude from American Military University before earning his Juris Doctor with honors from Charleston School of Law. During law school, he was recognized as a Presidential Honors Scholar, received multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, and served as a Teaching Fellow in the Legal Research and Writing program.
Before entering private practice, Matt served as a judicial law clerk and staff attorney for the Honorable Amy Bryant of the Superior Court of the Cordele Judicial Circuit. In this role, he worked closely with the court on a broad range of civil and criminal matters, conducting legal research, analyzing complex issues, and drafting judicial orders.
Matt’s practice includes local government law, residential and commercial real estate transactions, business law, estate planning and probate, and civil litigation. His experience in military service, law enforcement, and the judiciary provides him with a practical, service-oriented approach to representing individuals, businesses, and local governments.
Matt is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. Outside the office, his faith and family are central to his life. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their two daughters, Vera and Rory, playing golf, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, including the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves.
